The difference a comprehensive evaluation makes.
If you made it to this page, you’re probably familiar with the symptoms and are looking beyond the basics for a more data-rich assessment that connects the dots between how your mind works and the life you want to live. With a clear picture you can:
- Develop a thorough understanding of how your brain works: your cognitive strengths and weaknesses, your mood and personality styles, and how you relate to others in relationships.
- Identify which diagnostic categories best capture your experience, not just for the label, but to give context and help you with the process of exploring your identity.
- Gain personalized recommendations that are specific to how you actually function. This may include specific therapeutic interventions, medication, coaching, self-help, or lifestyle changes.
- Advocate for workplace or school accommodations with confidence.
- Replace self‑criticism with self‑understanding.
- Get clarity on practical next steps.
Every evaluation uses norm-referenced and valid measures that require specialized training and a specific license to interpret. Dr. Claney has over 10 years of experience learning, supervising, and providing psychological assessments, and focuses entirely on neurodiversity in her assessment services.
Especially for high-masking adults.
Dr. Claney specializes in high-masking adults who have gone a long time working really hard not to seem different.
Some of these people have managed life so “well” that their parents, friends, or employers would be surprised to know that they are struggling so much on the inside. This may make them worried that their diagnosis may not be caught by a professional.
Some have relied heavily on their high intelligence to get them through school or the first few years of professional work, but recently it’s felt like they can’t just keep pushing through.
Some have become well-practiced at copying how others act or using scripts to manage the expectations of conversations or social interactions. They may feel confused about who they are or what they like.
And many have thought they may be neurodivergent but aren’t comfortable self-identifying as ADHD, autistic, or AuDHD without a specialist’s assessment.
You might be a good fit if you’ve noticed:

Three phases of understanding.
Three main phases of each package experience, from your first call through receiving your report.
Intake Information
You’ll start with a consultation call with Dr. Claney’s care coordinator, Ally, where you’ll identify the right package and schedule all of your appointments. Then you’ll receive a digital packet of intake paperwork to complete within a week of this call.
Testing Data
During the testing phase, we gather both objective and qualitative data through interviews, symptom checklists, norm-referenced measures, interactive measures, and collateral interviews. You’ll have 1–2 interviews with Dr. Claney and 2 testing sessions with her psychometrist, either online or in person.
Feedback Session
Dr. Claney will write up your results in a customized report that best highlights the findings and answers your questions. You’ll receive a copy of the report and have a feedback session to review it, ask questions, and get recommendations for next steps.
Compare the packages.
Your assessment journey will differ in price, length, and included services based on what package you decide to pursue, and what add-ons you might include.

What does a psychological assessment include?
A comprehensive evaluation at Relational Psych typically includes a clinical interview, standardized neuropsychological and psychological testing, and a detailed written report, usually 25–35 pages, covering findings, a formative narrative, and practical recommendations. Collateral interviews (with a partner, parent, or previous provider) are available as part of the comprehensive package.
How long does the evaluation process take?
From first contact to receiving your report, most clients should plan for 4–8 weeks. Testing itself spans 2–4 half-day appointments depending on the package chosen. Reports are typically delivered 2–3 weeks after testing, and a feedback session is included to walk through findings before you receive the written document.
What ages do you assess?
Assessments are available for clients 16 and older. Dr. Claney has particular expertise in late-identified adults, people who grew up without a diagnosis and are now seeking clarity about ADHD, autism, or AuDHD.
Will I receive a formal diagnosis?
Possibly, but not always. The goal of an evaluation is clarity, a richer understanding of how your mind works, not just a label. If a diagnosis is supported by the data, Dr. Claney will name it clearly. If the picture is more nuanced, she will explain what was found and what it means for you practically. Many clients find the narrative report more useful than the diagnosis itself.
Does insurance cover psychological assessments?
Relational Psych is an out-of-network provider. Some PPO plans reimburse a portion of evaluation costs after you meet your deductible. Dr. Claney provides a superbill you can submit to your insurer. It’s worth calling your insurance company before scheduling to ask about out-of-network reimbursement for psychological testing (CPT codes 90791, 96130, 96131, 96136, 96137).
How is an assessment different from therapy?
An assessment is a time-limited, goal-directed process with a concrete deliverable: the report and feedback session. Therapy is an ongoing, open-ended relationship. Some clients do both, the assessment clarifies what's going on, and therapy provides the space to work with it over time. Others use the assessment as a standalone tool for self-understanding or accommodation documentation, without entering therapy.
Understanding yourself changes everything.
An assessment gives you more than a diagnosis. It’s a framework: a language for your experience and a foundation for everything that comes next. Schedule a consultation to get started.
